Cairo, October 4, 2022 – Korra Energi, a leading company in the construction and energy efficiency field for over 20 years, announced its selection by the Central Agency for Reconstruction, the Greater Cairo Development Authority, to implement the cultural and investment zones of Fustat within the national project under the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities to develop the Fustat Hills area. The aim is to revive historical Cairo in a modern way, utilizing its cultural and civilizational dimensions, as it was the first capital of Egypt established after the Islamic era – Fustat – to transform Fustat Gardens into a green gem in the heart of Cairo.

Engineer Ayman Korra, Chairman of Korra Energi’s Board of Directors, expressed his joy in implementing this project, stating, “We are proud to participate with Korra Energi in the execution of this massive national project, which confirms the company’s excellence in the services it has provided over the past years. Moreover, the objectives of this project align specifically with our company’s goals, as we believe in the importance of our role in rebuilding the land and achieving sustainability. Therefore, we have been working for more than 20 years to enhance our engineering capabilities and deliver innovative and sustainable solutions in the fields of construction and energy, contributing to a better future. This has made us the top choice for clients in executing such critical and precise projects, meeting high technical, operational, and quality standards.”

Engineer Ayman added, “We have a long and distinguished history, having successfully executed over 210 projects, including 98 in industrial sectors, particularly pharmaceuticals, food industries, and hospitals. We possess extensive experience, starting from implementation by specialized departments within the company, technical support, project management, to professional planning and quality execution.”

Upon completion, this project will transform Fustat Gardens into a green gem in the heart of Cairo. The cultural zone, spanning an area of 54,000 square meters, will include six restaurants, green areas, and fountains, serving as the entrance to the Civilization Museum. The investment zone, covering over 130,000 square meters, will feature various malls, restaurants, a Roman theater for celebrations, an adventure zone with diverse games, a heritage gardens area housing rare plants collected from different regions of Egypt, and the Hills area, converting existing waste into beautiful green hills. Additionally, the project will develop the archaeological excavations area, which contains the ruins of ancient Fustat residences established by Amr ibn al-As.

It is worth mentioning that the national project for the development of Fustat consists of several stages, starting from the Amr ibn al-As Mosque Square, covering an area of 20,000 square meters, which has already been completed. It serves as the main entrance to Fustat Gardens. This project is one of the most important national initiatives that will enhance and elevate the region according to its unique value and location. It will become the largest park in Egypt, providing a high-quality recreational space and serving as a cultural and tourist hub. Furthermore, the Fustat Hills Park will be situated on a large plateau, offering visual connectivity with the Giza Pyramids, the Citadel of Saladin, and the minarets of Cairo.
