Korra Energi Signs Agreement for the Renovation of Sheraton Cairo Hotel
Cairo, February 20, 2023 – Korra Energi, a leading company in construction and energy efficiency, has signed a contract with the Arab Company for Touristic Projects, the owner of Sheraton Cairo Hotel and Casino, for the implementation of the hotel’s renovation project. Korra Energi’s contracting sector will serve as the general contractor for the project, specifically the renovation of the Sheraton Tower – Nefertiti Building. The contract was signed by Engineer Ayman Korra, Chairman of Korra Energi, and Mr. Ibrahim Al-Shaibani, the General Manager of the Arab Company for Touristic Projects, in the presence of executive leaders from both companies.
According to the contract, Korra Energi will completely renovate the Nefertiti Tower, both internally and externally, without disrupting the hotel’s operations. The renovation works will include various electrical systems (electrical, telephone, fire alarm, and surveillance), and various mechanical systems (air conditioning, plumbing, and fire protection), and finishes work. The project aims to give the building a new and distinguished aesthetic touch in every detail, with a total project value of approximately one billion Egyptian pounds.
Engineer Ayman Korra, Chairman of Korra Energi, expressed his satisfaction with the execution of this project, stating, “We are proud to have gained the trust of the Arab Company for Touristic Projects to carry out the renovation project of Sheraton Cairo Hotel, which is one of the most important tourism projects in Cairo. I am confident that our team is capable of professionally and credibly executing this important project. We believe in the importance of our role in rebuilding the land and achieving sustainability.”
On the same note, Engineer Samir Salim, the Executive Manager of the Contracting Division at Korra Energi, said, “We are delighted with this new and significant project, which adds to our long history of over 20 years in providing innovative and sustainable solutions in the fields of contracting and sustainable energy. It further establishes us as the first choice for customers in executing such types of projects, including renovation and refurbishment works like Cleopatra Hospitals Group and the National Bank of Egypt, which require precise technical requirements, operational conditions, and high-quality standards.”
It is worth mentioning that Sheraton Cairo Hotel is the first hotel in Africa, established in 1970. The hotel consists of two adjacent towers: Cleopatra Tower, comprising 326 fully renovated rooms and suites in 2017, and Nefertiti Tower, consisting of 325 rooms and suites, alongside diverse restaurants, a wedding hall, meeting rooms, and a casino. The Nefertiti Tower will undergo a complete renovation, contributing to the support and revitalization of the Egyptian tourism sector.
